IOSH is Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals. As an independent and not-for-profit organisation, we aim to regulate and steer the profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative guidance on health and safety issues.
The Tyne and Wear Branch serves over 900 members in the North East of England, primarily in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, and the northern half of County Durham.
The aim of the Branch is to support its members in their professional activities and in their professional development, and to further the aims of the Institution. The Branch Plan and Constitution describe how the branch functions.
The Tyne and Wear Branch holds meetings, usually on the second Tuesday of most months, between October and June, where members may meet in a friendly and informal atmosphere, exchange information and provide mutual support. A guest speaker gives a presentation on a topical subject in the very wide field of occupational health and safety. An informal annual dinner is held in the Winter period, where members can meet the Committee and their partners in a friendly social setting.
Meetings are open to any other professionals who may have an interest in the subject, and a number of meetings are designed to be held as a joint meeting with other bodies in related fields, such as fire safety, occupational health, occupational hygiene, etc.
The Branch Executive Committee organises a series of monthly meetings and events, with appropriate guest speakers, for branch members between September and June. See the meetings page for details.
The Construction Section of the Branch also arranges a number of meetings on construction topics
